A A Unique Art Exhibition Showcasing a Mother and Daughter at Dar Taqafa in Tétouan

Morocco’s official television channel, Al Oula, covered the exhibition of artists Dr. Oum El Banine S. and Mithea D., M.F.A., held at Dar Taqafa in Tétouan in March 2011 to commemorate International Women’s Day.

The event brought together prominent figures from the Moroccan and international art scene, as well as members of the press. During the opening, a historic moment took place: Mithea. D, M.F.A. participated in Moroccan art for the first time virtually. From Mexico, where she was at the time, she used social media to integrate video art and digital performance, breaking physical barriers and creatively bridging distances.

An exhibition bringing together international visual artists Dr. Mati D., Dr. Oum El Banine S., and Mithea.D, M.F.A., a family of Arab-Hispanic origin.

The show, held at the Mohamed Drissi Gallery (formerly the Museum of Contemporary Art) in Tangier in 2011, was attended by prominent figures from the worlds of art and culture, as well as journalists. It also featured interviews with the participating artists. The works on display—created by the father, mother, and daughter—were spectacular, harmonious, and complementary, generating a magical atmosphere through a transdisciplinary approach that combined painting, printmaking, photography, poetry, installations, and video art.
