Pedestals of Light

Pedestales de Luz/Pedestals of Light is a series of paintings where abstract expressionism meets matter, merging the dynamism of acrylic with the tangible presence of stone. On canvas or paper, black and pink stains engage in a dialogue between contrast and harmony, while stones embroidered with golden thread emerge as symbols of resilience.

Rather than obstacles, these stones become symbols of transformation—resistance turned into beauty, challenges woven into gold. As an artist and poet, I see them not as barriers, but as points of support, elevations from which to dance, create, and reveal the best of my work.

Pedestales de Luz/Pedestals of Light is a visual testament to this truth: that challenges can be adorned rather than feared, that every stumbling block can lift us higher, and that art, in the end, is the alchemy of turning weight into radiance.

Ilusión

Ilusión/Desire is a deeply personal journey that I express on canvas through gestures and colors. I use acrylic on canvas with a restricted palette of white, black, and gold—colors that evoke the dualities of the soul: the struggle between light and darkness, desire and emptiness. The strokes, ranging from aggressive to delicate, reveal the intensity of an inner process of chaos, hope, and transformation.

Each piece is a physical reflection of the connection between my body and soul, where every layer of paint and every movement on the canvas becomes a manifestation of my spiritual journey. Ilusión/Desire is more than just painting; it is an invitation to explore the invisible, to dive into the depths of what is yet unseen, confronting the shadows and seeking the light in every stroke.

Love & Hate

Love & Hate, 2010 – Mithea D. – Acrylic on paper, canvas, and cardboard, various dimensions, created using abstract expressionism and action painting techniques.

Love & Hate, is a series that delves into the complexity of human emotions through the visceral language of abstract expressionism. Using acrylics in shades of black, red, and white on canvas, cardboard, and paper, the work explores the emotional duality that defines our existence: love and hate. In this series, the energy of action painting merges with the intensity of spontaneous gestures, where brushstrokes, drips, and aggressive marks become tools for conveying the internal struggle inherent in the human heart. Form dissolves into controlled chaos, representing the inevitability of conflict and the beauty found in raw emotion. Here, color and texture are not merely formal elements, but vehicles for unraveling the depths of the psyche—a reflection on the destructive and transformative power that these emotions carry."
